About Susan Wicklund Fund

Susan Wicklund Fund is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and affiliate of the National Network of Abortion Funds. An all-volunteer organization based in Montana, we formed SWF in honor of Dr. Susan Wicklund, who retired in 2013 after a life’s work dedicated to providing safe, affordable abortion care and treating patients the way she would want to be treated—with dignity, respect, and compassion. We continue Sue’s legacy today by always putting clients first, truly listening to each person’s story and focusing on continuity of care.

Better access to reproductive health care is greatly needed across Montana. An abortion in our state can cost as much as $1,000, not including the costs of travel, childcare and lost wages. Without financial support, many people cannot gain access to basic reproductive services—and without access, we are left with no choice at all. At SWF, we prioritize Montanans and Montana health centers, but our aim is never to turn away someone in need. That’s why we do our best to help people from other states if funding is available, and we’ll also help Montanans who must travel to neighboring states if the abortion procedure needed is unavailable in Montana.
