Call the DC Abortion Fund and leave a message slowly stating your name, your full phone number including area code, and the number of weeks you are pregnant, the date of your appointment, and whether or not it is ok for them to leave you a
voicemail. Someone from the Fund will call you back within 24 hours. They may use a blocked number, so make sure that your phone will accept blocked and unknown numbers.
About DC Abortion Fund
The DC Abortion Fund started in 1995 when a social worker began raising money for a rape survivor to get an abortion. After she raised the money she needed, she had some money left over, so she saved it for the next time a pregnant person would need support.
For 26 years, DCAF has been led and staffed entirely by volunteers, and continues to make grants to people in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia who cannot afford the full cost of an abortion. DCAF will welcome their first cohort of paid staff in 2022.
DC Abortion Fund's Community
Last year, the DC Abortion Fund provided over 2,667 grants for people seeking abortions. The helpline aims to make abortion care more accessible by removing some of the financial barrier to healthcare services often restricted by today’s political climate around abortion.
